A simple prayer

Many times, we came to God and didn't know how and what to pray
We tried to find words but nothing came out
We managed to find words but it still seemed so empty
We ended up feeling worse than before
God seemed so far away

Other times, we came to God with beautiful words
Never ending requests for ourselves, others, even for His church
But at the end of our prayer, we felt those were just empty words!
No connection whatsoever ....
He still seemed so distance

Today, I was reminded again through Matthew 6
Jesus has left us with His best simple prayer

Matthew 6:7-15 (MSG)
The world is full of so-called prayer warriors who are prayer-ignorant.
They're full of formulas and programs and advice,
peddling techniques for getting what you want from God.
Don't fall for that nonsense.

This is your FATHER you are dealing with, and he knows better than you what you need.
With a God like this loving you, you can pray very simply. Like this:

Our Father in heaven,
Reveal who you are.
Set the world right;
Do what's best— as above, so below.
Keep us alive with three square meals.
Keep us forgiven with you and forgiving others.
Keep us safe from ourselves and the Devil.
You're in charge!
You can do anything you want!
You're ablaze in beauty!
Yes. Yes. Yes.

In prayer there is a connection between what God does and what you do.
You can't get forgiveness from God, for instance, without also forgiving others.
If you refuse to do your part, you cut yourself off from God's part.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"The Lord's Prayer" is what we call this prayer
It is filled with adoration, acknowledgement, trust, and simple requests
The words are straightforward, nothing is hidden
Because our lives are open books before Him
He knows everything in our hearts and minds
He understands our situation

After all, what He actually wants from us is a desire to be close to Him, to cling to Him at all times.
So, don't fall for nonsense, pray this simple prayer

For His Glory~
