Strength of my Heart

Waking up too early that morning, my body was tired, my soul was restless, my heart was heavy. I decided to get off the bed and try to find some quiet moment in the living room. I was suppose to find some songs for the funeral service. What would he sing? What are some of his favorite songs? But my numbing mind just couldn't think of anything.

The cell phone that was laying next to me on the couch suddenly vibrated. It was a number out of my contact list all the way from Indonesia. I decided to pick it up. Hello!? hello?? No one was there, it was just a noisy background. As I was about to hang up I heard a song playing in the noisy background. I know that song! So I decided to listen a bit more. It sounded like a church service and this person was leaving the phone next to the speaker. As the first song ended, they started to sing another song. I broke down in tears.

Whom have I in heaven but You
There is nothing on earth I desire beside You
My heart and my strength many times they fail
But there is one truth that always will prevail

God is the strength of my heart
God is the strength of my heart
God is the strength of my heart and my portion
forever, forever
(God is the Strength of my Heart -Don Moen)

That was one of his favorite songs. He sang it too many times. He sang it when he was down, when he had no where to go, when we prayed together, when he was longing for more of God.

The song ended and so did the phone call yet I continued to cry like a baby.

I am here, daughter
Everything is going to be okay
I want you to sing that song
I want you to know that I am your strength
and your portion forever
You are safe with Me

That morning changed me forever.

Friends, in whatever situation you are in, always believe that God knows what's going on with you, He cares for you, even to the smallest details. Run to Him, He is the strength that always comes on time. He is the strength that's more than enough. He is the strength of my heart and yours. FOREVER.  He will never let you go.

Until today, I still have no idea who called me that morning. But if that person was you, I just want to say thank you for being obedient in following the voice of God and dialed my number 3.5 years ago.

For His Glory~
